The first Strategy Statement of the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission was launched by Chief Commissioner Emily Logan on Tuesday, Jan 26th 2016 in City Hall, Dublin.

The Commission’s first Strategy Statement covers the period 2016 – 2018 and sets out the strategic goals to guide our work over the next three years. The purpose of this strategy is to contribute to an inclusive Ireland where human rights and equality are respected, protected and fulfilled for everyone, everywhere.

The Commission launched a comprehensive public consultation on its strategy in June 2015. ‘Have Your Say’ was a nationwide public consultation carried out over a five-month period to inform the development of the Commission’s first strategy statement.  Watch our video about what happened at the consultation

Our approach to the consultation was based on the human rights and equality principles of direct engagement and participation. We set out to encourage participation from a diversity of groups and organisations concerned with human rights and equality. Hundreds of submissions were received as people were invited to send written submissions and take part in public meetings and outreach activity.
