Ireland’s second examination under the UN Convention against Torture, and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (UNCAT) took place on July 28th 2017, in the Palais Wilson in Geneva. The Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission hosted a live screening event in its offices to mark the occasion. This afforded Commission staff to come together with members of civil society and the public sector, and to follow and discuss as the State replied to the Committee against Torture’s questions on its compliance with the Convention.
