“Representatives of the Joint Committee consisting of the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission and the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission met today at the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission.
The Joint Committee considered a number of issues, including the Northern Ireland Troubles (Legacy and Reconciliation) Act 2023 which became law last month.
The Joint Committee wishes to express its deep concern about the significant human rights and equality concerns evident within this legislation which it believes falls short of international human rights law and standards.
The Joint Committee reiterates their commitment to continuing its work to ensure that current and future rights are secured for all across the island of Ireland.”
