IHRC makes submission to Inter-Departmental Gender Recognition Advisory Group

The IHRC today made a submission to the Inter-Departmental Gender Recognition Advisory Group on the measures the State should take to strengthen, protect and uphold the rights of transgender persons under Irish law, as part of the Group’s consultation process on law reform in the area.

The IHRC’s analysis of the scope of the legislation proposed by the Advisory Group makes recommendations as to how the legislation should be introduced to bring the State into line with its obligations under the European Convention on Human Rights and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.
