The IHRc will appear today before the British-Irish Parliamentary Assembly Committee B on European Affairs. Committee B will undertake an inquiry into Human Rights legislation in a European context. The Committee will consider, among other issues:
- The European Convention on Human Rights and its application in each jurisdiction including the Crown dependencies;
- The implementation of human rights legislation across the various jurisdictions of the British and Irish isles;
- The operation of the Human Rights Act 1998 in the United Kingdom and the proposed introduction of a "British Bill of Rights";
- The Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission and the Irish Human Rights Commission;
- Reform of the European Court of Human Rights.
