The IHRC welcomes the publication of the Report of the Gender Recognition Advisory Group, established under the auspices of the Department of Social Protection.
The IHRC contributed to the work of the Advisory Group by making a written submission in October 2010
This submission followed the publication of the IHRC Policy Submission on the Rights of Transgendered Persons which was submitted to Government in September 2008.
While the Report and recommendations of the Advisory Group will require careful consideration, the IHRC emphasises that it is now of the utmost importance that the Government act on the report and its obligations under the European Convention on Human Rights without further delay.
