Ireland and the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination CoverThe Commission previously made a submission to the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination in October 2019, in respect of Ireland’s combined fifth to ninth periodic reports under the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination.

In its 2019 Concluding Observations, the Committee requested that the Government of Ireland provide updates within one year on the steps taken to implement recommendations in the following areas:

  1. Racist hate speech
  2. Racist hate crime
  3. Legal aid
