IHREC is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities.

We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards.

Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities.

It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 level AA, due to the non-accessible content listed below.

Non-Accessible Content

Some content on IHREC's website does not fully comply with the European Union (Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Applications of Public Sector Bodies) Regulations 2020.

For example:

Some documents in PDF may not be fully accessible - they may lack alternative text for data, not have correct table heading tab orders, or headings and images may not have sufficient colour contrast.

  • Our staff are reviewing and improving the accessibility of PDFs and are working to address identified issues on an ongoing basis

IHREC uses Mailjet to manage our newsletter subscriptions. Mailjet has some accessibility issues, such as:

  • Use of Colour – Important information such as error states should be conveyed using more than colour alone (e.g. text or icons in addition to red borders).
  • Error Identification – Input errors should be clearly identified with descriptive text to support user understanding.
  • Correction Suggestions – When possible, suggestions for correcting input errors should be provided to guide users.
  • Status Messages – Status messages should be programmatically determinable and announced via assistive technologies without requiring focus.

Since these are third-party elements originating from mailjet, we currently have no ability to rectify these issues  Our staff continue to seek a solution for these issues.

A formal quality assurance process was carried out by Kooba Internet Solutions Ltd., through the IHREC website’s redesign process and with a combination of automated and manual accessibility audits, and the edits that derived from them, for the development process.
