This is the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission Strategy Statement for 2025-2027.
It was developed after an extensive consultation process, across all sectors of society, from a variety of backgrounds, and across generations.
We listened carefully to the experiences and perspectives of those we work for and with, and have identified how we can meet the challenges of the next decade, while consolidating the hard-won achievements of our first ten years.
Strategic Objectives
We have determined that our strategic objectives for the next three years will be to:
- Develop robust responses to current and emerging threats to human rights and equality;
- Enhance accountability mechanisms;
- Strengthen the human rights and equality infrastructure in the State;
- Fulfil our international role as part of a global network of National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) and National Equality Bodies (NEBs); and
- Operate as a model organisation for implementing human rights and equality in practice.
