The Commission previously made a submission to the UN Committee Against Torture (the ‘Committee’) in July 2017 in respect of Ireland’s Second Periodic Report under the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (‘the Convention’).
1 The Committee, at para. 37 of its 2017 Concluding Observations, requested that the Government of Ireland provide responses in respect of three Recommendations (paras. 8, 20, and 26). The Commission has reviewed the State’s report of 11 August 2018.
