Sharon Heron is Director of Education, Training and Community Practice at Belong To – LGBTQ+ Youth Ireland. She leads the LGBTQ+ Post-Primary Quality Mark initiative, supporting over 100 schools nationwide to foster inclusive environments for LGBTQ+ students. With more than 25 years’ experience in education and training, Sharon has worked across the non-profit, corporate, and government sectors, designing and delivering national youth programmes that champion inclusion, innovation, and social awareness.
Throughout her career, Sharon has trained thousands of educators and professionals through initiatives such as Young Social Innovators, Inspiring the Future Ireland, SEAI’s Power of One Good Idea, and Irish Aid’s Our World Programme. She is known for her strategic leadership and deep commitment to equity in education, making her a passionate advocate for inclusive practice in schools and communities.
Sharon also serves on the Board of The Autism Spectrum Association of Ireland (ASPIRE), supporting neurodiverse inclusion and advocacy.
