Naomi is a Dutch interdisciplinary and socially engaged researcher and policy advisor working at the Netherlands Institute for Human Rights on AI oversight. She is broadly interested in how technology can reflect, obfuscate, or amplify social inequalities, aiming to use law, advocacy, and action to dismantle systems of oppression. In 2024 she finished PhD at the University of Amsterdam focused on resistance and contestation to online exclusion and algorithmic discrimination. During her PhD Naomi specialized in EU platform and AI regulation and democratic theory. Besides research and policy work, she is the co-founder of the Racism and Technology Center, a small antiracist NGO viewing social oppression through the lens of technology and engaging in a range of advocacy and litigation efforts.
