Kate O'Connell (she/her) is a youth worker with over 18 years of experience, currently working with the National Youth Council of Ireland (NYCI) on the Equality and Intercultural Programme. Her career has included neighbourhood-based youth work and Youth Justice, but much of her youth work career has been with a particular focus on creating inclusive spaces for minoritised young people.

Kate has led initiatives supporting young Travellers, migrant youth, young people in international protection, undocumented young people, young people of colour, and Muslim young women. Her work is rooted in a deep commitment to equity, empathy, and youth participation.

A dedicated anti-racism activist, Kate has led numerous community initiatives aimed at building resilience, social solidarity, and addressing racism at the coalface. At NYCI, she is currently focused on resourcing youth work responses to the growing challenges of hate and hostility in communities across Ireland.
