Professor of Sociology at the University of Glasgow, Jo Edson Ferrie has been exploring rights realisation for over 15 years. Jo has been a member of the Research Advisory Group to the Scottish Human Rights Commission since 2013, authoring the evaluation of Scotland’s National Action Plan and founding member of the Human Rights Budgeting Group. In 2020 Jo co-founded Making Rights Real, a grass roots organisation helping communities name and claim their rights. In her day job, linked with her role as Associate Dean of Skill and Method, Jo teaches research methods, committed to equipping the next generation of social scientists with the skills and confidence to deliver world-changing evidence. Linked with this work, Jo serves on several Economic and Social Research Council committees include the Expert Advisory Group on Data Infrastructure, Skills and Method and Smart Data Research UK.
