Suzy Byrne has worked on equality and disability issues for over 35 years. She is a regional manager for the National Advocacy Service for People with Disabilities which provides professional independent representative advocacy for disabled individuals who may need support in decision making. She is a board member of Iarnrod Eireann having been one of the first specifically recruited public sector board members with lived experience of disability. She is a former board member and chairperson of the Irish Council of Civil Liberties and regularly acts as an advisor on governance, equality and rights issues and projects with statutory and non statutory bodies.
