Walter Jayawardene is the current Head of Communications, Campaigns and Education in Cuan, the DSGBV Agency, where he heads up its programme of public awareness campaigns, education function, and wider communications and public affairs activity – earlier this year Cuan launched ‘Hardest Stories’, its first national campaign to raise awareness of domestic and sexual violence within Irish society, and to encourage victim-survivors to reach out to others and tell their stories.

Walter has nearly 20 years of experience working in the communications, campaigns, and public policy space in both the civil society and public sectors, with a particular focus on human rights and equality. Before joining Cuan, Walter worked in the Kurdish Human Rights Project, the Irish Council for Civil Liberties, the Yes Equality referendum campaign, the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission and the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission.
