David Joyce is Equality and International Development Officer with the Irish Congress of Trade Unions.
His areas of work include the promotion of equality at a number of levels: within trade unions and in Irish workplaces as well as at the national policy level. This involves the development of policy on equality related issues and the production of guidelines for trade unions on various equality issues. David has represented Congress on a number of external equality and Development related bodies, including:
- The Board of the National Disability Authority and implementation group for the national comprehensive employment strategy for people with disabilities;
- The Board of the Equality Authority
- The annual International Labour Conference of the ILO – where he was part of the Workers Group that negotiated a new international labour standard on tackling violence and harassment in the world of work.
- National Dialogue on Climate Action
- The national monitoring committee for the National Women’s’ Strategy
- Civil Society Committee on Human Rights in Department of Foreign Affairs
- Business and Human Rights national action plan implementation group;
- Stakeholder Forum on Corporate Social Responsibility in DBEI
- Steering group of Coalition 2030 – civil society grouping to raise awareness and hold the Government accountable on their implementation of the sustainable development goals;
- National Framework Committee on Equal Opportunities at the level of the enterprise;
- The National Partnership for Integrated Workplaces and the National steering group of the National Plan against Racism.
- Irish Aid Advisory Committee
He has also participated in various ETUC equality initiatives including the negotiating group on the development of a joint framework of action for gender equality, and the negotiations on the revision of the Parental Leave Directive.
