Anastasia Crickley was head of the Department of Applied Social Studies at Maynooth University Ireland, where she led the development of innovative rights based Community Work education and training while also working nationally for equal education access, participation and outcomes for marginalised and minority groups.
Anastasia is a longstanding member, Board member and former chairperson of Community Work Ireland and chairs the organisation’s Policy and Practice Working Group. She is Chairperson of the All-Ireland Endorsement Body for Community Work Education and Training (AIEB), Chairperson of Minority Rights Group International, and is European Director of the International Association for Community Development. She was the first Chairperson of the European Union Fundamental Rights Agency, Representative of the OSCE Chair on Racism, and a former Chairperson of the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. Anastasia is a founder member of Pavee Point Traveller and Roma Centre and the Migrant Rights Centre Ireland and remains actively involved in collective action for rights at a number of levels.
