By law, we have a role to perform or assist with research and to prepare and publish the results of that research. Our research aims to provide evidence for human rights and equality issues. It also helps to shape policies in these areas.
ESRI Research Programme
Since 2017, we’ve worked with the Economic and Social Research Institute on joint research
These joint programmes provided knowledge and evidence for human rights and equality issues.
We created reports on topics such as access to justice, work, housing, and disability rights.

Research funded through our Grant Scheme
We also support research activities through our Human Rights and Equality Grant Scheme. The insights and data from these projects are vital for our work.
Data
Gathering clear equality data on a regular basis is important.
It helps to make sure that policies are fair. This way, everyone can take part equally in Irish life. We are committed to strengthening the foundation of equality data. We collaborate with civil society, European partners, and relevant organisations. Our goal is to improve human rights and equality data in Ireland.

Annual Poll
Every year, we conduct a survey. This survey looks at people's views on human rights and equality. It is cross-sectional and representative. The survey is done online, by an independent polling company.
