Commission publicly promotes LGBTQI+ rights along Pride Parade Route
The Irish Human Right and Equality Commission (IHREC) has launched a one-day digital outdoor advertising campaign that will feature at bus stops along the Pride 2025 Parade route across Dublin City.
We have also booked advertising on Dublin City Centre screens, and in the main LBGQT venues, including those hosting Pride events.
Leading with the message, “LGBTIA+ Rights Belong To All Of Us”, the bilingual campaign in Irish and English marks 10 years since Ireland led the world when we became the first country to vote for marriage equality, and also 10 years since we legislated for Gender Recognition.
Both were landmark achievements we should be proud of. Over that period Ireland and most of Europe have seen positive legislative change in areas that affect the lives of LGBTQ+ persons. In many countries marriage equality is legal and socially accepted, and LGBTQ+ people can live today in a much more tolerant society than previous generations.
However, LGBTQI+ people still face many forms of discrimination in their daily lives. Exclusion, harassment, and less favorable treatment in promotions and working conditions can still occur. In addition, violence and hate crimes directed against LGBTQ+ individuals is a significant concern, with levels reported to be higher than those experienced by the general population.
It is incumbent on us all to remember that rights hard won can so easily be reversed.
Chief Commissioner Liam Herrick said:
“Today, more than ever, we need to publicly show our support for the rights of all our LGBTQI+ community to live freely and equally in a country without prejudice or discrimination.
We in IHREC know that Ireland can continue to be a leader on LGBTQI+ rights, not just at home but throughout Europe and worldwide.
And it is in this spirit of equality and hope that we celebrate Pride 2025 as we continue to work together for justice, freedom and equality for all members of the LGBTQI+ community in every part of the world.”
